"I’m Third." What does it mean to live the I’m “Third" lifestyle?
Hello, fall! Who else is excited for cooler weather, cozy flannels, nighttime bonfires and warm mugs full of apple cider? Such joy comes along with the falling leaves!
As time moves us farther away from Summer 2017, the important lessons God revealed at Kamp can become less vivid in our hearts and minds. With all of the homework, activities, practices and plans with friends, our focus can easily be directed away from God’s important truths— even the most foundational one of I’m Third.
As a “Fall Refresh,” we want to take a moment out of Friday to remember these truths and encourage us to keep sharing His love!
Luke 10:27— “And he answered, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
Before anything else, we look to God’s Word for a reminder of the “why” behind I’m Third. Jesus Christ, when asked “to put it all together,’ simply said, “Love God with all your heart and with all your soul… and love your neighbor as yourself.” In Matthew, Jesus calls this the “greatest commandment.” It’s imperative we return to these verses to remember the foundational I’m Third truth, straight from the Gospel.
Living I’m Third means living like Christ did— Mark 10:45 tells us, “Even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
Jesus was the ultimate servant leader, and striving to live in His image is the most practical way we live I’m Third here on Earth. We are called to be the humble hands and feet of Christ, shining the light of His love so that all may come to know Him. Living like Christ means putting others before ourselves— an aspect of I’m Third we must never forget.
Always know that you’re not alone! Thousands of our Kampers and Staff are in their communities living the I’m Third lifestyle, and we love watching as they meet in I’m Third Groups all year long. Visit ImThird.com to learn more about joining one of these groups to connect with other individual Kampers who desire to put God and others before themselves.
In order to continuously live I’m Third, we must actively remind ourselves of the truth behind it. Whether Kamp is in session or school is in full swing, we always strive to live like Christ and spread His love to others. What ways do you live out I’m Third in your community?
