Each summer before Kamp’s gates open for the summer, our Kanakuk Staff arrive early to spend time preparing, training and getting excited for summer! Over 2,000 college students travel to Branson, MO, every year to prepare our facility and their hearts for a summer dedicated to leading younger students closer to Christ.
There is a lot of work to be done in the 10 days leading up to Kamp, but in true Kanakuk fashion, those days are still packed with nonstop fun! Training is a time for our Staff members to get a taste of what Kanakuk is like for a Kamper. We challenge them to participate in activities, invest in building new friendships and draw close to the presence of the Lord. The week is filled to the brim with Biblical teaching that emphasize the foundational truths that are found in this year’s theme verse: 2 Timothy 1:6. Through all of this, we encourage community and a family-style work culture, both of which support the true heartbeat of Kanakuk.
In addition, our team spends several hours each day training in necessary safety procedures to ensure each Kamper has the BEST.SUMMER.EVER. Safety is our #1 priority at Kamp, and that is also instilled in each and every one of our Staff members!
While staff training is a time of learning, it’s also a time of fostering friendships that will last far beyond the summer. By the time the Kamp gates open and Kampers arrive, our team is united, prepared and FUAGNEM (Fired Up And Going Nuts Every Minute) with excitement to take on another incredible summer serving kids from around the country. We are thankful for our Staff because they share Jesus’ love in the best way possible – by being living examples!
