Hello friends! This past week we got to celebrate the Fourth of July! It simply is one of our favorite days of the summer. The 4th of July at K-Kountry is unlike any other Kamp day. We woke the entire Kamp up with fireworks and Bomb-Pops. Our day then began with a big ol’ pancake breakfast complete with chocolate chips and whipped cream. The day of celebration continued at our morning flag skit. This year we orchestrated a parody of many popular songs to introduce American heroes such as George Washington, Betsy Ross, Babe Ruth, and Amelia Earhart.
The importance of recognizing our freedom in this country and freedom in Christ makes the Fourth a day to really be celebrated.
The day continued with “Freedom Time” and American history trivia games. This year our morning concluded with an awesome Kamp wide water balloon fight.
It. Was. EPIC.
A cookout picnic took place right by the swimming pool where we served hotdogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and brats. A fire truck that sprayed buckets and buckets of water all over the K-Kountry swimming pool then visited us during the pool party. Talk about a “Moment of Wonder.”
Throughout the afternoon we continued in an American Extravaganza. The American Extravaganza was a series of stations and activities where Kampers could earn Freedom Passes to take an extra ride on the Zipline. Of course, our “All-American” supper was up next. Full of American favorites and decorated flag cakes, dinner concluded in a huge dance party. Soon after, all Kampers took their spots on the main K-Kountry road to watch the annual 4th of July Parade. The parade included a lot of favorites from the morning patriotic song but then also Disney Princesses, famous astronauts, a marching band, Lewis and Clark, as well as the fan favorite, the Bald Eagle.
Right after the parade our whole Kamp went to the K-Kauai waterpark for even more fun!
The evening came to a close as K-Kountry, K-1 and K-Kauai gathered on the K-Kountry lower fields for an awesome fireworks show! It was spectacular! We were so grateful for such a fun day and for a day that we were able to remind ourselves that we are free in Christ.
