Term 5 has officially begun and we couldn't be more excited! These kids have been waiting ALL SUMMER to get to Kanakuk and it is finally time.
There is a certain excitement that comes with Term 5. For those staff members who have been at Kanakuk all summer, there is an understanding that Term 5 means the last time for each party, the last time for each K-Life and the last time for each skit so we want to make it the best of the summer. We welcomed new Kampers yesterday in big style as they were brought up to the "hot air balloon" and introduced in front of cheering K-West staff.
After introductions and meeting their counselors, Kampers can get a snow cone, move in to their cabin and spend some time getting to know the other kids in the cabin. The first activity of the term is the Safe and Secure talk. Komo kampers get to hear from Beth Wiebe and Todd Rapp speaks to the Kuk men about guidelines at Kamp. The Kampers learn about three R's - Recognize, Resist and Report if anything is not right with a situation at Kamp.
With a little bit of time before dinner, the K-West pool is opened up so that Kampers can swim or hang out. Dinner is a picnic on the upper fields where the Kuk Leadership team grills hamburgers with the famous K-West Boo-Ya sauce. For dinner, the Kuk Leadership team grills up some delicious hamburgers. After dinner it is time for K-Life. The first K-Life of the term is always super hype! Kids are so excited to finally be at Kamp that the energy is off the charts.
We are so glad that these Kampers are here and that Term 5 is underway. Parents be sure to check our blog and Twitter updates each day!
