The first full week of kamp is officially over, but man was it a blast! We couldn't have asked for better weather or better kampers. Each day at kamp is packed full of exciting classes, electives, and evening activities. We wanted to hit the highlights from this week to keep you updated with all that we're doing.
Opening day was awesome! Kampers were introduced on our new stage, greeted by their counselors, and treated to snow cones. We ended the day with a picnic on the field and opening K-Life!
Kampers started the day with cabin games all over kamp! Cabin games provide a fun way to get to know your cabin mates as well as learn your way around K-West. Kampers also took cabin photos and shopped at the kamp store. Sunday's evening activity was Tribals. New kampers were placed in tribes followed by traditional indian dances at the tribal ring.
Monday was the first full day of specialties and elective classes. Kampers had a blast attending the classes they hand picked before coming to kamp! After a full day of fun classes, everyone headed to the boy's gym for K-Life. If you've been to kamp before you know, "ain't no party like a k-life party, cause the k-life party don't stop!" Our director, Ward Wiebe, gave a phenomenal talk on brokenness and God's grace and forgiveness.
On Tuesday we had the first party of the summer, Kuk Dynasty! Kampers enjoyed a picnic dinner, two-steppin, watermelon, root-beer, games, and a photo booth!
Wednesday was a "K-West Sunday." Kampers were able to sleep in, enjoy coffee cake, church, and our traditional fried chicken lunch. The afternoon and evening theme was: "Day in the life of College." The afternoon started with a co-ed kickball tournament and ended with a concert on the quad.
Kampfire night is a favorite for kampers and staff. There continues to be something special about sitting around a fire and making s'mores. Kampers eat dinner and make s'mores around a fire then have a devotional time.
These girls had a blast at our "Luminosity Atrocity" party on Friday night. This was easily a favorite night of the term thus far! Neon, dancing, mission impossible, and glow sticks--what could be better? The night ended with Joe White's creation talk under the stars! Friday was awesome!
This morning was 7-Day changeover. We're sad to see our first set of kampers head home but thankful for the time we had them. It's always fun to honor our kampers and their achievements. We said our good-byes and welcomed new kampers just hours later! The first week at kamp was awesome. The Lord is certainly at work here and we're excited to be "All In" for the rest of the summer.
