Snapshot

We have a scuba adventure planned that will blow you away. In two weeks you will learn scuba and become open water diver qualified and that is only the beginning. Next you will learn advanced dive courses: spear fishing, night diving, and underwater photography. You will come away from this Kamp an accomplished diver.  If you are already scuba qualified you will start the advanced dive courses right away.  You will be taught: stress rescue, underwater navigation, wreck diving, underwater photography, spear fishing and night diving.  If you are already scuba qualified, the skills you will gain at Scuba Camp will place your abilities in an advanced diver category.  At the end of camp we plan a dive in the Caribbean with Aqua Sports, the same dive group that will conduct the training at Scuba Camp.

Scuba Camp is a two week adventure that is broken into three day segments.  Two days of diving and a day of other activities.  Continuous diving could cause ear problems for beginning divers.  Here is what a beginning diver can expect: two days of pool and classroom then a day at White Water theme park; two days of pool, classroom and an open water dive on Table Rock Lake, then a day at Silver Dollar City theme park; two more days of open water dives and certification; float trip and underwater photography; spear fishing on Beaver Lake; fun day on Table Rock lake culminating with a beach cookout an night dive.   For those who are already certified, their schedule will also consist of two dive days and a non-dive activity day.  The certified campers schedule will mirror the beginning divers however, their dive activities will start out with a pool review of their skills then they start the advanced skills in; Stress Rescue in the pool first then move into the lake; they will learn underwater navigation using underwater compasses;  finally they will go wreck diving.  There are house boats, airplanes, bridges, building and other interesting things on the bottom of the lakes.  On day ten the two groups will combine for photography, spear fishing and the night dive.

Don Peterson, who has taught scuba at Kanakuk for over 25 years, will also be the lead instructor at Scuba Camp.  Don will also host an “end of camp dive trip” to the Caribbean.  All those who have attended Scuba Camp, along with their family members, are invited on this trip.  More information about this additional adventure and the cost will be sent out to those interested.

Area Lodging

Find out where Kanakuk families love to play, stay, and eat while in Branson! Many of our Kanakuk families like to stay in the Branson area either right after they've dropped off their Kampers, or right after pick-up. Over the years, they've let us know about many of the places where their family prefers to relax and unwind, spend quality time together, or enjoy a great meal where "someone else does the cooking".

We'd like to share a few of these recommendations with you- just click the picture below and you'll be taken to the Lodging and Attractions page of our website. Of course, if you choose to visit any of these establishments, we'd love it if you'd let them know that the Kanakuk family recommended them to you.

Enjoy! Visit the Lodging and Attractions page.
