The Expedition — Rock Climbing Section is an opportunity to experience Kanakuk
while climbing the vertical rock faces around the Durango area. It is a
seven day wilderness addition to your Kanakuk Colorado term that will teach and
equip you to advance in your rock climbing knowledge and skills. The
Expedition—Rock Climbing section is an intense outdoor and biblical leadership
education program. If you are interested in learning how to set up your own
top-rope climbs, understand different climbing techniques, and be introduced to
lead-climbing while learning leadership techniques and a good dose of solid
Biblical truth, this is for you. The Expedition—Rock Climbing section is for
campers from K-West, K-2, and K-Colorado. This program is not intended to take
campers from any camp but will only be offered to those attending a regular
session at one of the specifically mentioned camps. There are eight (8) sessions
and a maximum of ten (10) campers per session.
You are going to have the chance to climb at local crags around the Durango
area where you will climb on some of the best rock the state of Colorado has to
offer. You will learn how the correct way to set up top-rope climbing systems,
proper climbing techniques, be introduced to basic lead-climbing techniques,
small group leadership, as well as receive biblical training. Other prominent
outdoor organizations are charging anywhere from $868.00 to $1,320.00 for a
week of outdoor leadership training. Our instructors are some of the best in
the country, the rocks are among the most pristine in Colorado, and the leadership
training you receive will give you the tools to lead your high school or college
group closer to Christ.
