For end-of-term Kamper pick-up, we have implemented intentional safety measures and, in order to help manage the health and safety of our Kampers, we will not be allowing families to enter Kamp. We know Closing Ceremonies are a family favorite, so we are committed to providing a Closing Ceremonies video to all families 3 days after the end of your term.

Be sure to Re-Enroll to receive a special gift and help ensure your spot at Kamp for 2021. Waitlists are forming faster than ever! Starting June 1st, you can even do it online at kanakuk2021.com.

In order to help us provide the best closing day pick-up experience possible, we have modified the schedules for each Kamp. Please note, we have staggered our pick-up times to help you better plan your day when picking up Kampers from multiple locations. To ensure we have enough time to clear and thoroughly clean our Kamps prior to new Kampers arriving Saturday, we ask that you plan to arrive within each Kamps time frame below.

Staggered Closing Day Pick-Up Times For Each Kamp
K-Seven: 8:00am-9:30am
K-2: 9:30am-11:00am

No, we will provide 2 “face buffs” per Kamper and they will be washed daily.

Normally we would welcome packages to our Kampers but we are discouraging delivery of packages this year.  Cards and letters are great, however, and you are more than welcome to mail them in!

We understand your concern for your child’s safety, and we are taking this matter very seriously. Our Health Task Force has been diligently monitoring the progress of the evolving coronavirus situation since February and making sure our already-strict health protocols remain aligned with CDC, local and state health department recommendations.

You can visit our Summer 2020 Details  page for specific videos and information about how we are enhancing Kamp programming, Kamper drop off and pick-up, and our transportation process to further safeguard our Kampers and staff from COVID-19 this summer.

Missouri Governor Mike Parson has reviewed our plan and said “I am totally impressed with Kanakuk’s COVID-19 Child Health and Protection Plan…This is what we want for our state.”

We’re excited to welcome your Kamper! Unfortunately, we’re not allowing parents to join us for opening or closing ceremonies this year. Please see our Opening and Closing Day page for more information. Our Health Task Force team has helped elevate Kanakuk’s already-strict health and safety standards with special attention to COVID-related health risks, and we’re limiting guest access to facilities as an extra precaution to protect all Kampers. You can view our commitments to Kamper and staff health and safety here: kanakuk.com/child-health-safety.

Yes! Our Health Task Force team has helped elevate Kanakuk’s already-strict health and safety standards with special attention to COVID-related health risks, including having Kampers fill out a Health Screening Form and doing a temperature check of all Kampers upon arrival. Each of our Kamps will scan every incoming Kamper and staff member for fever this summer.

This year, we are introducing a streamlined process for Kamper drop off to ensure a safe and healthy experience. We are asking that parents stay in their cars while our professional and friendly staff take care of everything – from unloading your Kamper’s luggage to answering any questions you may have!

Please download our Health Screening Form and fill it out so your Kamper has it on Opening Day!

Check out our Driving to Kanakuk page for more information!

At Kanakuk, safety is #1. The safety of every Kamper entrusted to us is our utmost priority, and we have zero tolerance for anyone who seeks to harm a child.

In 2009, we implemented the Kanakuk Child Protection Plan, a comprehensive system to identify and prevent any deceptive and/or abusive behavior. Our goal is to ensure that no child is ever harmed at Kanakuk or any other youth serving organization.

Since instating the Kanakuk Child Protection Plan over a decade ago, it has become the gold standard for safety within the industry, acting as a model for other youth-serving organizations across the nation. To date, over 1,200 youth leaders and over 450 youth serving organizations have been trained in the CPP.

With respect to COVID-19, we understand your concern, and we are taking this matter very seriously. Our Health Task Force has been diligently monitoring the progress of the evolving coronavirus situation since February and making sure our already-strict health protocols remain aligned with CDC, local and state health department recommendations.

We’ve dramatically expanded our hygiene and sanitation protocols, and this includes our cabins. Every cabin is stocked daily with sanitizing and cleaning supplies and is cleaned/sanitized twice daily. Additionally, major buildings in our Kamps – including cabins – are each equipped with hand sanitizer. We are instructing our Kampers and staff to use hand sanitizer each time they enter and exit a building.  Our counselors are also instructed to wipe down all common surfaces like light switches, sink knobs, etc every time their cabin exits the building.

We will require Kampers to sleep head to foot and they will be encouraged to avoid any direct contact – basically we’ll take the fun outdoors as much as possible and spread things out!  Kampers and staff will wash hands frequently, and temperatures will be monitored daily. Between terms, cabins will undergo additional rigorous sanitation procedures. Each of our Kamps are equipped with multiple electrostatic sanitizing units.

Our goal is to have all activities outside where social distancing will be easier to manage.  This includes K-Life, parties, activities, etc.  When weather forces us to be inside and social distancing is more difficult, Kampers will wear a fun, Kanakuk-branded face buff. This buff will not be required for sleeping, bathing, eating, or swimming.

Yes, we will notify the parents of all Kampers at that Kamp.

Our drop-off process will look different this year (you can find out more here). We have staggered drop-off times by last name.

Staggered Opening Day Drop-Off Times for Summer 2020
2pm-3pm: Last Name A-M
3pm-4pm: Last Name N-Z

In order to help us provide the best opening day drop-off experience possible, please arrive to drop off your Kamper during the appropriate time frame above – based on the first letter of your last name. We understand that families with Kampers at different Kamps may not be able to arrive during the scheduled times. Be assured that we will accommodate late arrivals from all families when necessary.

Our goal is to provide your Kamper a warm, friendly welcome, but keep in mind that we will check everyone in from their vehicles in the parking lot.  We ask that parent. remain in the vehicle as they will not be allowed to enter our main Kamp areas. Also, be sure you have your Kampers Health Screening Form available when you arrive.

Thank you for partnering with us during this time. In an effort to help manage the health and safety of our Kampers and staff, we’re requiring Kampers (and our staff!) to self-quarantine for 14 days prior to Kamp. Alternatively, your Kamper can self-quarantine for 7 days prior to Kamp with a negative result from a COVID-19 molecular test. To help you navigate what’s best for your family, please keep in mind that we define self-quarantine as avoiding unnecessary travel, limiting exposure to non-family members, and avoiding large crowds and gatherings. Only you can determine what constitutes necessary travel for your family.

We are committed to keeping this the BEST. SUMMER. EVER. That means it needs to be fun and healthy. We will be evaluating all activities and programs to determine opportunities to alter, enhance, or swap out to keep them in compliance with our many policies and protocols. Each activity will be subject to additional sanitation and hygiene protocols.

Yes! Our buses will still be leaving at normal time, and will be arriving to Kamp earlier! For more information, please visit our Transportation Webpage!

Yes, the party barn will be open but we have modified the activities to fit into our health and safety guidelines.

You should receive your luggage tags, medication card, and other important pre-arrival information via mail before your term begins.
